The time has come, and you’re finally getting your new roof installed! It’s exciting when any project comes to fruition, but it’s not every day that your roof is getting torn off. We know that this is an important home improvement project and we want to help you understand what to expect.
A few days before install, our production team will reach out and arrange the materials to be dropped off at your home. Typically, our supplier will leave the shingles right on your roof, so they will be out of your way and easily accessed by our roofers. Although shingles are heavy, they will be spaced out along your roof and will not damage the integrity of it. If our supplier is unable to load your roof, materials are often delivered on the day of the job and hand-loaded.
The day before install, a member from our production team will give you a call to confirm the date and run you through what the day looks like over the phone. The day of install, a field supervisor will be on the job start to make sure the crew has all the right supplies, is on time and ready to work, and that any specifics of your job are addressed before the crew gets to work. Before your old roof is removed, the crew will put boards and tarps over vulnerable areas to prevent damage. Once everything is safe and ready, the crew will get to work tearing off your shingles. Your discarded shingles will be loaded into a dump trailer once they’re removed from your house.
Depending on your roof, the entire project may only take one day. But depending on a number of factors, including the layout of your roof, the number of layers, and the condition of the structure under the shingles, some roofing projects take multiple days. The team at Irish will keep you informed throughout the whole process! Just keep in mind, while your roof is being installed, your home will be a construction zone. Hammers, nail guns, falling shingles, and workers on your roof will fill your ears during the entire project.
Once the roof is completed, we will have a member of our team do a final walk around your property and run a powerful magnet through your yard to pick up any loose nails.
